Rodrigues fruit bats are only found on the tiny island Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean, part of Mauritius. They live in large groups in tropical forests and have a wingspan of 75cm. They are threatened by habitat loss and are hunted for food by locals. In the 1970s they almost became extinct, with numbers dropping to around 70.
